Olympic & Commonwealth Games Medallist explains . . . our Winter Squad Program
Welcome to our winter program which is designed to refine and perfect the
competitive swimming strokes of all our young swimmers.
Please pay careful attention to the precise execution of stroke drills during the winter terms, as this is critical in developing sound, smooth technique in all strokes.
The junior squad warm-up generally take 25 to 35 minutes, and emphasis should be placed on your best whole stroke technique. There is no need to race each other, swim at a comfortable pace and concentrate on making no splash, bubbles or noise while gliding smoothly along the water surface.
Stroke drills are covered during the second half hour, and these exercises offer movement correction and plenty of repetition to encourage efficiency in all strokes.
Copy the better swimmers, and enjoy the energy savings you will develop through learning more relaxed technical movements. Remember that breathing out is an essential element of every stroke.
